Select Motor Recruitment
Select Motor Recruitment
Select Motor Recruitment has placed automotive talent across South Africa since 1990 — the longest-standing motor-industry recruiter in the country. The reputation was decades deep. The website was stuck on clunky WordPress. Simply Begin rebuilt it on Framer: faster, sharper, and finally as credible as the firm behind it.

Thirty-five years of reputation. A website that finally shows it.
Select Motor Recruitment has been placing people in the South African motor industry since 1990. That's thirty-five years of continuous work, which makes it the longest-standing specialist automotive recruiter in the country — a genuinely rare thing. Debbie Penrose and her team know this industry from the inside out: the real difference between a service advisor and a service manager, which dealerships look after their people, what an OEM actually needs rather than what a job title says. That kind of understanding can't be bought or shortcut. It's earned one placement at a time, over decades, and it's the reason clients keep coming back and candidates keep being matched to roles that genuinely fit. The firm had every reason to be proud of what it had built. The website was a different story — and not because of anything they'd done. The old site had been built on WordPress by a previous designer, and somewhere along the way the handover had never happened cleanly. What was left behind wasn't really workable: it had been built in a way that was far too complicated to update, so keeping it current simply wasn't feasible. On top of that, the business had recently been through a full brand overhaul, so the site that was still live no longer matched the way the firm looked or spoke. A thirty-five-year-old company with a fresh brand was stuck behind an ageing site that had become more trouble than it was worth to maintain. It's hard to imagine a clearer case of a business being better than it looked online — and, importantly, none of it was their fault. This is more common than people realise. A business hands its website to someone, the relationship ends, and what's left is a build only that person really knew how to run. The site keeps going, slowly ageing, increasingly awkward to change — until updating it is more effort than it's worth. For a recruiter it stings twice over, because a recruiter is found precisely through search — a hiring manager or a candidate types a query into Google and judges what they land on. What they were landing on no longer told the truth about the firm. So the brief was to put all of that right: redesign the site around the new brand, rebuild it somewhere the team could actually use, and — above all — hand it back properly, so it was theirs to own, for good. I moved it off WordPress and onto Framer. The redesign wasn't about decoration. Recruitment quietly asks a website to serve two audiences with opposite needs at once — employers looking for the right candidate, and candidates looking for the right move — and the new site was built to look after both. Employers get a clear path to submit a vacancy, and good reasons to trust the firm with it: deep industry knowledge, candidates presented rather than CVs forwarded, and a track record measured in decades. Candidates get live vacancies, interview preparation, and an easy way to reach the team. The look is grounded and quietly confident, built around the new brand — a deep automotive green, a leather-textured hero, the gear-and-clover mark given room to breathe. A "Why leading automotive businesses choose us" section makes the case in plain language, a numbered "Our process" section walks prospective clients through how the team actually works, and real testimonials from both candidates and employers — including placements into senior roles at multi-franchise dealerships — carry the kind of proof only real experience can. What changed underneath matters just as much as the new look. The site is fast to load and built mobile-first, which counts for a lot when so many job seekers are searching on a phone. It's genuinely easy to update — no plugins to break, no tangle to fight — so the team can keep it current themselves without calling anyone. It was loaded into Google Search Console and every old page was redirected to its new home, so thirty-five years of accumulated search history carried across intact rather than being reset. And the handover was simple and complete: full access, clearly explained, one hundred percent theirs to own. That last part is the point. A business this established should never be stuck with a website it can't practically maintain. The result is a site that finally matches the firm behind it — modern, quick, mobile-friendly, easy to maintain, and built on the new brand rather than fighting it. More than that, it's a site Select Motor actually holds the keys to. Thirty-five years of specialist knowledge, presented with the credibility it has always deserved, on a platform the team controls and can grow with for years to come. The reputation was always there. Now the website lives up to it — and it belongs to them.
Keep looking
