"You're better than you look" is easy to say. The site had to prove it without saying it twice.
Simply Begin's whole pitch to a prospective client is that their site is dated — three versions behind a business that's moved on, quietly making a worse case than the one that's actually true. That line only works if the studio's own site isn't guilty of the same thing.
So the header carries proof before a visitor reads a word of copy: a live "Available now" status next to a Johannesburg clock that actually ticks in real time. It's a small, deliberately unglamorous detail — the opposite of a portfolio flex — but it does more to establish that a real person is on the other end than any headline could.
The headline itself just says it outright: "Your business is better than it looks." Underneath it, three ways to act sit in the hero itself rather than behind a "Contact" click — book a 20-minute call, get a free automated audit, or fill a short "what's not working" form without leaving the page. No pitch deck, no discovery phase billed by the hour — the copy says as much directly.
The one-person model gets treated as a strength, not a disclaimer, on the About page: "the person you speak to on the call is the person who does the work." Past that line, the site's job is just proof of craft — an abstract, animated colour-gradient (blue, magenta, gold) fills the hero instead of a stock photo, shifting slowly rather than sitting still, and a single large-format photograph of weathered driftwood breaks up the page lower down at the "Scared is fine. Stalled isn't." moment — worn and stalled, made literal for a second, then gone.
The services section ("Five Things. That's the whole list.") prices everything without a quote request: multi-page sites from R18,000, one-page sites from R10,000, brand identity from R5,500, ongoing site care from R1,200/month, and a social and design retainer from R9,500/month. Underneath it: "Built in Framer every time — capable enough that the design isn't compromised to suit the tool, and yours outright once it's live."
The free brand audit tool is the sharpest proof point on the site: paste a URL, get a score out of 100 across five categories and the one fix that would move the needle most, delivered by email in 24 hours — but every report is read and adjusted by hand before it goes out, so nothing carries the Simply Begin name that wasn't actually looked at. Automation gets the speed; the review is what the "one person" pitch is actually selling.
Six real clients back it up on the homepage — Debbie, Mary-Ann, Clarice, Melissa, Cecilia, and Chanté — under a heading that does the same job as everything else on the page: "Don't take my word for it." The footer closes the loop the same way it opened: "BUILT IN FRAMER, OBVIOUSLY."
